Composite Rotating Saws Cutter For Hedge Trimming

Release time: 2025-08-29 09:14:09

In 2018, Yantai Equation Mechanical Technology Co., Ltd. unveiled a patented technology—a novel cutter head structure for vehicle-mounted hedge trimmers, the "Composite Rotating Saws Cutter." Concurrently, the company launched the 160X series hedge trimmers equipped with this cutter

After a five-year review by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), the technology was granted a national invention patent in 2023, with the patent number ZL 2018 1 1091422.9.

Previously, such products universally employed straight-blade cutter, typically featuring three manganese steel straight blades measuring 520-650mm in length. These were driven by a single motor via a belt, relying on the high-speed rotation of the blades to "chop" hedge branches off. However, this design suffered from four major drawbacks:

  1. Repeated Cutting Leading to Low Efficiency – Cut branches rapidly accumulated in front of the cutter      head, forcing the blades to repeatedly slice the same debris.      When trimming dense hedges, the piled-up waste could block the cutter      head's advance, even stalling the motor.

  2. Severe "Branch Splitting" Phenomenon – Straight blades relied on high-speed impact to sever      branches, often causing splintered cuts, leading to dead      branches that impaired hedge growth. The thicker the branch, the      worse the damage.

  3. High Risk of Blade Breakage –      The high-speed collision between blades and branches made brittle      fractures a serious hazard, especially during prolonged summer      operations under high temperatures. Fatigue-prone operators could      easily hit hard objects, drastically increasing the risk of      sudden blade breakage.

  4. Flying Debris Hazards –      Repeated cutting generated numerous wood chips, which were      flung out at high speeds, potentially striking passing vehicles or      even injuring drivers and passengers.

The 160X series Composite Rotating Saws Cutter adopts a "dual-rotation" mechanism:

During operation, the rotating sawleanly cut branches, effortlessly handling thick branches up to 100mm in diameter. The spinning cutter frame flings trimmed branches away from the work areaeliminating debris buildup and resolving repeated cutting issues, thereby significantly boosting efficiency.

In case of accidental blade impact, the saw’s strength far exceeds that of straight blades, preventing brittle fractures. Additionally, the sawing principle inherently avoids flying debris, making it safe for use on urban roads, highways, and municipal landscapes.
